African Traditional Religion (ATR) is the indigenous religion practiced by Africans before the advent of Islam and Christianity. As these foreign religions were introduced to Nigeria, the early missionaries in their quest to eradicate African Traditional Religion and to impose the foreign religion on the indigenous people devised many ways to put ATR to extinct. These includes expedition, derogatory names as well as describing  it as something evil which ought to not to be practiced  by Africans. Thus, it seems that ATR has gone to extinct and is no more influential in our society.  This book  shows how ATR will survive despite the presence of foreign religions (Islam and Christianity) in Nigeria.  In an attempt to examine the influences of  foreign religions on the indigenous religion in Nigeria, it was discovered that foreign religions with  their various  cultures  to Nigeria  have both positive and negative influences on ATR. With these influences on ATR it seems that ATR will go to extinction but it will not  because  in matters of deeper things of life such as birth, festival, marriage, customs and death, Nigerians  have remained  largely followers of indigenous religion. Therefore, ATR will continue to thrive and influence Nigerians despite the presence of Islam and Christianity.

The Survival of African Traditional Religion

This book discussed about   benefits and costs of  football betting among Nigerian youths. The book evaluates   gambling as a concept, origin, gambling explanation theories, problem gambling  and religious perspective on gambling were evaluated.  Forms of gambling, sports betting in Nigeria like pool betting, football betting also causes and purposes of gambling were discussed. The benefits of football betting such as employment generation, revenue for government, economic benefit to few luck bettors were noted  as well the costs  of football betting like inability to save money, addiction to alcohol, suicide, crime were expatiated.  The role of the Church  to curtail high rate of youth involvement in gambling as well strategies and policies that could help to curb youth propensity to betting were articulated.

The  political  culture  of Nigerian  politics is associated with corruption, election violence, thuggery, election malpractices, kidnapping and assassination of political opponents, political instability and many more. This has made many Nigerian Christians to conceive politics as a dirty game, evil and something not worth venturing in, but it is good to know that Christian responsibility extends from personal to the realm of politics. Hence, Christian participation in  politics is a moral obligation that every adult Christian is obliged to do. Apostle Paul encouraged Christians to  be submissive  to the government Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.   In Nigeria, the right to vote and to be voted for  is not only a right but a civic responsibility. Christians should be involved in and contribute to democratic politics without losing sight of its mission and vision.  Thus, Nigerian Christians in obedience to Romans 13:1 should actively participate in Nigerian politics to ensure social justice and equity in Nigerian society. 

A Clarion Call for Proactive Participation in Politics by Nigerian Christians

African philosophy of hard work permeates the life of African people. African youths who understand this philosophy will not be lazy but will be   proactive in their various endeavours and  pursuit of  a better life.  Most Nigerian youths are not lazy this is because they engage in variety of works in order to make quick money. Becoming rich at a young age is not evil but the source of the wealth is what matters. Of  a truth some Nigerian youths are wealthy while others are also in the journey to achieve success. This book points out various engagements Nigerian youths  involve themselves into so that they can achieve their desired dreams of becoming  influential personalities  in the society. In this book, the  various engagements of Nigerian youths  are divided into positive and negative means of making quick money. Nigeria having thousands of Pentecost Churches coupled with the variety of religious programmes and activities they organize daily, it would be assumed that there will be high level of decency and moral living especially among the  members of these Pentecostal Churches. But a thorough examination of the life style of the laity and  members of some of the Pentecostal Churches, show  that they are not found wanting in immorality. Some of the pastors from these Pentecostal Churches  through healing ministry materially and spiritually exploit people, prosperity message is their main gospel while salvation message has been relegated to the background. Organization of revivals and crusade with the sole aim of making  money and attracting youths to their Churches. The establishments owned  by  some of the Pentecostal Churches are beyond the reach of the poor members as cost of accessing  the services of  these establishments are exorbitant. Sexual immortality is not exempted as members accuse pastors of attempted rape, court cases between Churches are on the increase as well as Church  leadership crisis which most times is  settled by the secular court.  These  elements of decay in some Pentecostal Churches paint the Church black and white and is inimical to the growth of  Christianity in Nigeria hence, there is need for genuine revival to restore true Christian practice by believers in Nigeria.
 Chapter one opens with introduction to the book. Chapter two reveals   elements of decay in Christianity.  Chapter three dwelt on  Pentecostalism in Nigeria tracing the  brief   origin of   Pentecostalism in Nigeria,  general characteristics of Pentecostalism, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria. Chapter four exposes elements of decay  in  some Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria which includes; rivalries/unhealthy competition, materialism/prosperity gospel and commercialization of  religious objects, proliferation of Churches, rejection of priest, abuse of spiritual gifts, neglect of poor Church members, simony in ecclesiastical office, lack of evangelism into  interior villages,  sexual immorality, divorce, Church leadership crisis, indecent dressing. Ways to curb immorality in the Church  such as proper teaching of the gospel, practicing  Christian values and  prayer. Chapter five  concludes  the book.

Elements of Decay in Some Pentecostal Churches in Nigeria

Africans value good health and make sure that anything that causes harm to health is avoided. Sickness is inimical to health thus Africans can spend a lot  to treat themselves when they are sick. Africans seek for holistic healing of which Christian healing ministry can offer through the power of Jesus Christ. Thus,  Christian healing ministry becomes an integral part of Nigerian society to bring holistic healing to various diseases they suffer. The church is to carry out the Great Commission along with the healing ministry. Although there are problems associated with Christian healing ministry as a result of fake faith healers in the ministry yet Christian healing ministry has been of a great help to  Nigerian Christians and the society at large. 
The chapters are arranged in the following ways:  Chapter one opens with introduction to the study. Chapter two is discussed about  ill-health, healing and health. Chapter three focused on dimensions of Christian healing ministry centered on Christianity and healing emphasis and it includes healing ministry of Jesus, purpose of Jesus healing ministry, healing    ministry in the  early church, healing  ministry  in  post apostolic era, Pentecostalism and healing ministry, early missionary thrust and the quest for healing, prophetic healing movement, Pentecostalism and quest for divine healing. Chapter four points out   the contributions and problems of Christian healing ministry inclusive of the following; impact of Christian healing ministry on the Church and Christians, church growth, spiritual revival of the church, supernatural healing and  impact of healing ministry on the society. The problems include; abuses, unnecessary emphasis on the influence of demons and evil spirits, inappropriate use of sacramental inadequate medical care, declining spiritual commitment, materialism and commercial ministry and family crisis. Chapter five brings  the work to a close. The book sheds more light on pastoral care in  Christian healing ministry  to achieve the purpose of which Christian healing ministry  is originally meant.

A Critical Appraisal of Christian Healing Ministry in Nigeria

Nigerian  Women are vital and veritable tools for  development of  our nation Nigerian.  They are endowed with potentials,   creative talents and skills    which when they are allowed to utilize  them  in the society  will produce meaningful results.   Women have integral and indispensable role to play in the family, church and the society at large but the existence of patriarchy seems to hinder women from discharging fully  such vital roles.   Women form the integral part of the liberation that Christ gained for the human race through His vicarious death on the cross. Hence, the Church should utilize all available resources to achieve  gender equality in the society.

Chapter four explored Christian appraisal of feminism among Nigerian women including the following; gender equality in the bible, Christianity and gender equality, Christian feminism, feminist theology, Christian women association, encouraging   religious  education for women development. other approaches to achieve gender equality such as: Dukors theistic humanism and committee on the elimination of discrimination against  women were noted. In contemporary Nigerian society, kidnapping is rampant.Kidnapping for any reason is a crime against humanity, it reduces man to the semblance of an animal. It has created insecurity, threat to national security and adverse effect on our political, social and economic life.Kidnaping and other  violent crimes  such as insurgency and terrorism have painted Nigerian nation white and black in the comity of nations and placed the nation among terrorist nations in the world. The patterns pipeline vandals operate were x-rayed. Causes of pipeline vandalism such as poverty, unemployment, government insincerity and poor state of development, corruption in the security sector and sabotage in the oil sector were noted as well the effects which include; economic loss leading to poor economy, fuel scarcity, destruction of lives and properties, environmental degradation, inadequate power supply. Appraisal of Social Media

Broken marriage is now a common occurrence in various parts of the world. In contemporary Nigeria, broken  marriage  is becoming increasingly high.  It has created insecurity, threat to  family harmony and adverse effect on  the institution of marriage. The predicament of broken marriage on Children is enormous, as they may  be devastated and may not receive proper parental care and training thus may not be decent, may not live a  moral life and may become public nuisance in the society. Children are the future leaders thus should be properly trained to face the challenges in the future but it seems that the menace of broken marriage is robbing them of this opportunity to be properly trained, oriented and  prepared as future leaders. Children from broken homes may have low self-esteem, become dropouts, social nuisance which may be detrimental to the society.
This   book intends to showcase how this social malady would be addressed by the positive role of  the  Church  and the society with her  valuable  indigenous practices to curb divorce.
