The Young African Leader’s Initiative (YALI) Emerging Leaders Training was that first step for me. I had envisioned a fun-filled vacation in the heart of Accra packed with fun trips and a lot of good food.
Instead over the space of 3 weeks, I shared the same space with over 130 of the brightest and most innovative youth change-makers Africa has to offer, being educated on some of the continent’s most problematic issues and engaging in thought-provoking conversations on how to solve them and create a better outlook for the African dream.
My experience I can say was a paradigm shift and has invoked in me a fresh sense of optimism towards making our dear continent, a land of so much resources and potential fulfill that which has been spoken of her from time immemorial, finally living up to her identity as the land of riches and wealth for her people.

In 2014, while still a PhD student, Awofeso travelled to Niger State for research data collection. The period coincided with celebrations marking Nigeria centenary. While in Bida, she learnt that Zungeru was called 'The Amalgamation City'. This piqued her interest and the researcher in her wanted to uncover more about the historic town, situated in the Wushishi LGA. This volume is about that journey.

In December 1965, in a smoke-filled hotel room in Morocco, South African journalist Terry Bell accepted a challenge: to paddle a kayak from London to Tangier. At the time, Terry and his wife Barbara were living as political exiles in London. By August 1967, they agreed it was time to get back to Africa. But they decided to up the ante. Their plan: paddle 11 000 kilometres from England to Dar es Salaam in a 5-metre glass fibre kayak.

This is a collection of 25 stories drawn from his travels in 19 states of the country.
Some of the stories include his visits to Kanta Museum (Kebbi), a ride in the Abuja Metro, an overnight stay in Gusau (Zamfara), a Christmas spent in Markurdi (Benue), and stumbling on the Biafra bunker in Oron (Akwa Ibom).
In addition to these, Awofeso also includes his report on the bi-centennial anniversary of the Sokoto Caliphate in 2004 as well as the 2016 coronation of the current Oba of Benin.
The collection also includes his tour of the Olowo’s ancient palace in Ondo, the Ogunde Living history museum, and walking the monkey-bridges of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Two photo-story sections feature the Kambari people (Niger State) and the tomb/mausoleum in Bauchi of Nigeria’s first and only prime minister Tafawa Balewa.
